Old post office building in Odell, Texas converted into a recording studio with drum room, vocal booth, live room, and control room.

Welcome to the website for the recording studio and independent record label in Odell, Texas. A quiet little town with a population of less than a hundred. The studio is housed in the little brick building in the middle of town which previously house the town s post office. The building was originally built as an icehouse around 1909 in the horse and buggy days. The walls, ceiling, and floor still have about three inches of cork in them left over from the icehouse days. When the post office closed in 2002, Kevin and Sandra Cook purchased the building and converted it into a recording studio. Kevin Cook is a self-taught sound engineer but has many years experience as a musician. He has a Bachelor of Music degree and played on the road with Aaron Barker (songwriter of 10 #1 hits), Jimmy Perkins (CEO of Sustain Records) and Gerald Boyd (Producer of Drew Kennedy's Dollar Movie Theater album). The recording environment of the studio is relaxed and feels like sitting in the living room yet has been designed for optimal acoustics. With minimal parallel walls and a nice mixture of diffusion and absorption, the recordings are mostly flat and natural. There is very little need for fixing in the mix . Over the last few years, several groups have recorded complete albums here. Now with Pro Tools in the control room there is no need to record in the big city when it can be done here in a relaxed country environment.
